Indeed it is drama everywhere. Thuggery took a new twist of creativity on Thursday after robbers disguised as police officers made away with millions of money from Standard Chartered bank’s Nairobi West branch.

One group that is however feeling relieved is the betting fraternity. Leading firm Sportpesa has its operating license back. The long and winding process of bouncing back has been explained.

Back to corruption, former Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero is seeking to have some evidence tabled against him in court squashed just because it was not obtained in the right manner. Did this man steal or not?

How Police Impostors Tricked Guards in Ksh 72 Million Heist

Robbers posing as police officers yesterday morning stole Sh72 million from Standard Chartered bank’s Nairobi West branch. In a dramatic robbery that police said could have been an inside job, three armed men dressed in replica Administration Police uniforms stormed the bank as the money was being delivered.

The money was being transported from G4S headquarters in Industrial Area to Standard Chartered’s Nairobi West branch – a distance of about four kilometres.

The Sweet Deal that Saved SportPesa in Tax Row

SportPesa, the beleaguered betting giant, has managed to squeeze a deal on the contested back taxes and settled on a “significantly lower sum”. The agreed amount will also be paid in phases in the deal, announced earlier in the week, allowing the firm’s return to operations after a two-month absence, much to the reprieve of millions of its customers.

Former Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero, on trial over a Sh213 million fraud case, wants the anti-graft court to throw out evidence from a bank manager saying it was illegally obtained.

Dr Kidero said the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) obtained a detailed statement of accounts of the Nairobi City County from the City Hall branch of the Co-operative Bank without a court order on August 25, 2015.
