Last Friday, at the burial of former Nyabari Masaba Constituency MP Hezron Manduku, Mr Odinga’s said he was willing to endorse interior CS Fred Matiangi for the 2022 Presidential race but at the right time.
“Matiang’i is my son and I know he deserves the best. Go slow, I know how to plan on this,” Raila said.
Mr Odinga’s made the remarks after leaders who attended the burial of former area MP Hezron Manduku asked him to endorse the no-nonsense CS.
“If we start campaigning now we will not be any different from the other team. Let’s focus on development and allow Matiang’i to serve us. His role now is more important,” he said.
Matiangí avoided politics choosing to focus on the then census operation in the country.
“It’s my time to work. If it’s closing all bars to count people, that is it and we mean business. I know you want me to say something, but I will say when the right time comes,” he said.
It is still unclear whether Mr Odinga will run for the 2022 Presidential elections.
Some political pundits believe the ODM leader will support a different candidate to face off with Deputy President William Ruto who has declared his intention to replace his boss President William Ruto.
