Nigeria’s Security Responds After Retaliation Attacks Over Xenophobia

Nigeria on Wednesday heightened security in the country following the Xenophobia attacks experienced in South Africa.

Reports indicated that the security in the country was increased after a supermarket chain in Abuja was vandalized.

Further information claimed that security around businesses owned by South Africans was intensified following retaliation attacks over Xenophobia.

In South Africa, the death toll rose to seven after the South African police discovered two burnt bodies in a store.

The bodies were discovered by people who were looking for scrap metal after the violence ensued on Monday as reported by AFP.

Nigerian singers and the Zambian football team boycotted trips to the Southern nation following the violence that has ravaged the country for the past two days.

According to South Africa’s social development minister, the reason behind the attacks was that the locals feared losing their jobs to non- South Africans.

Among the singers from the west African country, Afrobeats artist Burna Boy vowed to never set foot in South Africa until the matter is resolved.
