Meru Senator Mithika Linturi and his estranged wife Marianne Kitany heaved a sigh of relief following the decision made by the court.

Magistrate Peter Gesora on Wednesday ruled that the divorce case between the two would not be aired live by media houses.

Gesora however stated that journalists were still allowed to cover the ongoing case.

According to the judge, the decision was made after Linturi and Kitany agreed to stop the live transmission of the matter.

Last week on Wednesday, Gisora had rejected a plea from the conflicting parties to have the case heard in private.

The tough talking magistrate had opted that the matter would remain public as the couple had agreed on that in the past when the case was first taken to court.

In the same week, the divorce case between the former chief of staff in the office of the Deputy President and the lawmaker had been adjourned after the death of Linturi’s father.

Danston Omari who is Kitany’s lawyer, had told the court that his client was not ready to proceed with the case after the unfortunate incident.

Omari pointed out that Kitany had travelled to join the family of her father-in-law in mourning and preparing for the burial.

Linturi’s legal representative Muthoni Thiankolu had however disregarded the claim by Kitany and indicated that it was a plot being used by the ex-chief of staff in the case.
