Kirinyaga Woman Representative, Purity Wangui Ngirici, on Tuesday, responded to a clip of her confrontation with a motorist that went viral.

Ngirici, through a tweet, acknowledged that she had been at fault during an incident where she was caught overlapping.

The lawmaker explained that the matter had occurred in the past contrary to how the media had initially reported it.

The woman rep apologised over the incident and stated that even leaders had to be reminded that they were not above the law.

“Going by the clip making rounds on social media – Yes, sometimes back I had an incident involving overlapping on the road,”

“Sometimes, even leaders are reminded by the citizens about the I took the lesson, appreciated and apologized accordingly.

“To grow together as one cohesive and harmonious society, we must remind and correct each other whenever we go wrong or make mistakes,” stated Ngirici.

The leader revealed that she had committed the offence while she rushed to see a patient identified as Magdale Wawira, who had been admitted at KNH.

Earlier reports had indicated that Ngirici allegedly tried to punch the motorist after being confronted about the issue.

In April 2018, a daring Kenyan blocked an MP’s vehicle in a bid to stop the driver from overlapping.

The man, identified as David Lemayian, was caught on camera as he lectured the occupant of the car which was a black Mercedes.

The move by the Kenyan was lauded by activist Boniface Mwangi, who called for action to be taken against politicians who commit such offences.
