A section of Baringo leaders have called on the county residents to come out and stand with one of their own in 2022 in order to bring back the Presidency to Baringo county.
Speaking during the thanksgiving ceremony of Baringo County Deputy Governor Jacob Chepkwony in Sererunin Baringo Central on Saturday, the leaders led by Baringo Assembly Deputy Speaker Ameja Selemoi said that the only way will be through Senator Gideon Moi who is better placed to deliver that.
Selemoi who is also Churo Amaya ward representative said that the Pokot nation is solidly behind senator Moi and there is no way they will support another presidential candidate after Uhuru Kenyatta finishes his term.
He expressed his confidence that the residents of Baringo and the entire nation will back the KANU chairman in 2022.
“In Tiaty, we are 100% supporting Gideon Moi since he is our leader and also Baringo we have the opportunity of securing back the presidency again this time round,” he said.
His sentiments were reiterated by Alice Chesire who is working with the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA), who delivered greetings from Senator Moi and also the former head of state Daniel Arap Moi.
However, Jubilee MCAs led by Bartabwa ward representative Reuben Chepsongol, drummed up support for Deputy President William Ruto saying that he is the one who is in a better position to succeed Mr.Kenyatta.
Chepsongol, said that the DP has a clear track record which speaks for itself and he has also proven to be a leader to head the nation.
Other MCAs who campaigned for Ruto include Mochongoi ward MCA Kipruto Kimosop and Kapropita ward representative Jennifer Kabon.
The political cold war between the two antagonists, Ruto and Gideon have escalated in the recent past with each trying to control the rich Rift Valley vote.
However, political bigwigs think that Ruto has the upper hand over the younger Moi, owing to his high office, charm, and nationwide network.
