Football fans gave mixed reactions following an argument between former Manchester United striker Romelu Lukaku and Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville.
Reactions came after Lukaku responded to Neville’s hurtful claims about the Belgian’s professionalism and fitness during his stint at Old Trafford.
The 26-year-old bashed the former Man United right-back and said: “Don’t question my professionalism. I live for this game. I am at home all the time. I try to do everything to improve.”
Lukaku went to Real Madrid this summer after facing a torrid time at Old Trafford since joining in 2017 from Everton. His stint was marred by injuries and an unusual increase in weight, failing to return to his sparkling form.
And Neville was his greatest critic as he at one point called Lukaku ‘overweight’ player weighing over 100kg. But he also questioned his professionalism.
After Lukaku had hit back at Neville, online fans gave mixed reactions with some supporting him while others defending Neville. Check out what they had to say;
What bothers me about the 'professionalism' thing is it ignores the constant hard work required to play at the level those such as Romelu do. Gary Neville knows this.
But as Lukaku says, he is paid to play football, Gary Neville is paid to talk.pic.twitter.com/GGaZKofk52

Professionalism ?? Where did your professionalism go when u recorded that podcast while u were still a United player?? And isnt being fit a part of being professional? Horrible striker,he was a decent poacher but he lost that even when he played for us.And that first touch πππ

Neville is one of the most shit pundits out there, attacking Pogba which led to racial abuse and hating on other players like Lukaku and etc.

What does @GNev2 has against black players???

That fact that Lukaku thinks his fitness isn’t part of professionalism when it comes to being a pro footballer says it all π

Now the boy can talk. Can’t wait for Pogba to leave so he can speak his mind about Man U.

Lukaku is one of those footballers you just cannot dislike. He’s so bright and seems a genuinely nice fella. His story in the @PlayersTribune was brilliant, struggling with his family through poverty to make it as a footballer https://t.co/FblXcUB7ZY via

I really wish him well at Inter. Most pundits I mute these days. The football analysis is gone, all that is left is vile toxic comments coming from men and women that should know better.
