Unai Emery afforded a triple injury boost

As Arsenal prepare for Sunday’s North London derby, the medical team has some good news for the fans and most importantly for the head coach Unai Emery.

Long term absentees Hector Bellerin, Kieran Tierney and Dinos Mavropanos are set to resume full training with the first team in September. The 3 had been drafted to resume training in October but have recovered from their respective injuries ahead of schedule.

Bellerin and Tierney, in particular, will be a huge boost for Unai emery as they are the club’s starting full-backs. Bellerin was injured last January while playing in a Premier League fixture against Chelsea and in his absence, Ainsley Maitland Niles, who is a midfielder has deputized at right back.

Kieran Tierney was bought in the summer window from Celtic and he came with a groin injury. Arsenal is on the verge of selling Nacho Monreal to Real Sociedad which will leave Sead Kolasinac as the only fit left-back.

Furthermore, the Bosnian is more comfortable playing as a left wing-back and proves to be a liability in defense when fielded as a left-back. Arsenal host last season’s Champions League finalists Tottenham Hotspur at the Emirates Stadium this Sunday.
