Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria has implored all Mt.Kenya residents to be counted at their place of birth in the upcoming census.

While making the appeal, the vocal legislator argued that Kenyans should be counted from their places of birth in accordance with the Bible. He quoted how Mary and Joseph, the parents of Jesus Christ, travelled to their place of origin for a census.

So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David. He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child,” he said through his a Facebook post.

However, the post elicited sharp reactions as some Kenyans believe the MP, who has declared his interest in the 2022 presidency, has selfish political interests.

Questions have also risen about Kuria’s knowledge of the Bible.

Here are reactions from Kenyans;
