Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi has distanced himself from Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei utterances at a funeral in Olessos on Saturday.

Oscar Sudi has claimed that leaders from the Rift Valley region do not agree with Senator Cherargei inflammatory remarks. Instead Sudi has argued that Cherargei should have apologized immediately he realized his tongue had slipped.

“First and foremost, as leaders from Rift Valley, we do not agree with what Senator Cherargei said. He ought to have apologized immediately he noticed his tongue had slipped. Personally,my tongue has ever slipped and I apologized. We therefore condemn such utterances with contempt it deserves. Kutenda kosa sio kosa ila kurudia kosa ndio kosa,” Oscar Sudi stated.

However, Sudi has asked the Director of Criminal Investigation George Kinoti never to be selective on how he is discharging his mandate.

The outspoken Tangatanga MP claimed that several other leaders have been on record inciting people but, they have never been arrested as in Cherargei’s case.

Sudi has gone ahead to name other leaders who have made away with hate speech who include;Former Molo MP Joseph Kiuna and Jubilee Secretary General Raphael Tuju who was caught on a recorded phone call trying to revive the Kiambaa Church Massacre.

“I want to ask DCI Kinoti to never be selective on how he is discharging his mandate. Former Molo MP Joseph Kiuna once talked badly but no action was taken. Again, Former MP George Nyanja and Raphael Tuju were caught on a leaked telephone conversation talking about reviving Kiambaa Church case with the aim of generating animosity between communities living in Rift Valley especially on 2007/8 post election violence issue,” Sudi insisted.

Moreover, Sudi has also accused the Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr Fred Matiang’i of setting double standards by sparing Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho in the recent crack down against illicit drugs in the region.

A week ago, I saw Matiang’i in Mombasa conducting operations against illicit drugs. We saw him together with the sleuths raiding the house of suspected drug baron Ali Punjani. I also wondered why Joho’s residence was spared by the operations, why did Matiang’i spare him yet they were pictured together in Mombasa?…. Was Matiang’i discussing the same issue with Joho? . It is in public knowledge that; Ali Punjani, Joho, Akasha brothers are all birds of the same feathers. Selective justice will haunt us as a country, let’s be fair and we will move and progress swiftly as a nation,” Sudi posted on his facebook page.

Oscar Sudi’s statement is an indirect defense of Senator Cherargei who has been arrested and is expected to be arraigned in court over those remarks.

During the funeral, Senator Cherargei was captured in a short video clip which circulated online warning the Deputy President’s detractors of unspecified action.

“Those who are fighting the Deputy President, we (sic) are profiling you … if you fight [the] DP you’re fighting us. Don’t think he doesn’t have supporters,” Cherargei told mourners. He added, “as his supporters if you continue fighting the DP we are marking you and profiling you. When the time comes we will deal with you. Even the DP has supporters and should be respected.”
