Police Spokesman Charles Owino on Tuesday found himself in trouble with Kenyans after he denied claims that he accused Raila Odinga’s ODM Party of denying him an appointment as Inspector General of Police.
Media reports earlier showed that his closeness with Ugenya MP David Ochieng’ who vied against former MP Chris Karan on ODM ticket was the reason as to why his bid for the IG post failed.
According to Owino, there is no way that the party would have denied him the job because it is not the appointing authority.
While acknowledging that Ochieng’, who vied on Movement for Democracy and Growth ticket in the April by-election, is his friend, Owino denied campaigning for him.
He said former MP Chris Karan, who was the ODM candidate in the by-election, had warned him that supporting Ochieng’ would cost him dearly.
“It is true Ochieng’ is a close friend. It is also true that Karan said I would never ascend in government because I was supporting Ochieng’. I never said ODM is against me,” Owino said.
Kenyans would, however, take none of that as they went on to troll him with some arguing that his position does not allow him to engage in politics.
Here are reactions from Kenyans;
