Fans join Mourinho in battering Lampard

Fans have joined former Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho in criticizing Frank Lampard’s squad selection and debutant Mason Mount.

Mourinho, who was once Lampard’s coach, claimed that Chelsea should have started more experienced players during their Sunday match against their age-long rivals Manchester United.

The Portuguese also suggested that Mount, the 19-year-old midfielder making his first debut for Chelsea, striker Tammy Abraham, 21, and defender Andreas Christensen, 23, did not offer enough for “a match of this dimension”.

Lampard, on his side, said that he would not care what his critics said and was more surprised to hear Mourinho had singled out Mount, who shown encouraging moments.

But fans, who keenly followed the match, stood with Mourinho, stating that Lampard’s selection was not up to standard.

Chelsea are now preparing for the UEFA Super Cup competition against Liverpool on Wednesday at Besiktas Park, Istanbul before welcoming Leicester City next week on Monday for their second Premier League match.
