Elgeyo Marakwet Governor Alex Tolgos on Monday spilled the beans on the reason behind the increased handshake resistance which has been experienced especially from the Rift Valley leaders.
Tolgos reveals that the reason behind the handshake resistance is because all the Rift Valley leaders received an order to frustrate President Uhuru Kenyatta and Opposition Leader Raila Odinga’s truce since the very day it was declared.
“Since the day the handshake was announced, we were told to fight Uhuru-Raila truce in every way. However, I was the first leader from the Rift valley to embrace the handshake and i invited all leaders. I invited Mheshimiwa Gideon Moi to talk to people and fundraise for a church.”

Toglos statement is coming at a time that Deputy President William Ruto and his camp have openly defied the Building Bridges Initiative(BBI), a project of the handshake, on alleges that it is meant to sideline their political ambitions.
On Saturday, Ruto’s controversial tweet caused an uproar after he dismissed the BBI and the Punguza Mzigo Referendum arguing that they are clear distractions of the Jubilee manifesto.
The JUBILEE administration will NOT be distracted from delivering on our manifesto & HE's big 4 plan by those engaged in the raging debate on Punguza mzigo, BBI or the 2022. They should be objective, truthful & conduct a honest conversation that is in the BEST INTEREST OF US ALL.
