The Building Bridges Initiative(BBI) has recently been receiving a heated opposition from legislators allied to Deputy President William Ruto on allegations that it is meant to sideline their 2022 political ambitions.

Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro being the latest to join in the chants, on Sunday accused President Uhuru Kenyatta and Opposition Leader Raila Odinga’s new super alliance of trying to bribe their way to create a super post for the ODM boss in the 2022 elections.

While dismissing the initiative, Nyoro referred to it as a ‘Blue band Initiative’ that is nowhere near helping Kenyans and only meant to satisfy a section of politicians ambitions.

“I hear there is something called BBI, and that is Blue band Initiative. Raila Odinga and other 2017 election losers want the whole of Kenya to help them change the constitution and create a Prime Minister post for him and his team. We will not accept that. My people from Kiharu and Gatanga have sent me, and they said they will not accept this,” Nyoro ranted.

Nyoro’s statement is coming just a day after Ruto’s midnight tweet dismissing the BBI and calls for Referendum caused a stir.

In his tweet, Dr. Ruto made it clear that the Punguza Mzigo debates and the BBI were distractions of preventing the Jubilee Party from delivering its manifesto.

“The JUBILEE administration will NOT be distracted from delivering on our manifesto & HE’s big 4 plan by those engaged in the raging debate on Punguza mzigo, BBI or the 2022. They should be objective, truthful & conduct an honest conversation that is in the best interest of us all,” read Ruto’s Twitter post.
