Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria on Friday blasted the Tanga Tanga brigade, made of Deputy William Ruto’s supporters for snubbing the Building Bridges Initiative presentations today being the last day.
According to the controversial MP, the brigade decided to keep off the presentations and even nicknamed it ” Blue Band Initiative” since they do not support the handshake which is the brainchild of the initiative.
“Those who do not support the handshake and who are opposed to a parliamentary system did not turn out to give the dissenting view. They chose to stay away and even branded the process as the Blue Band Initiative, which is sad and unfortunate”.
The Gatundu MP further argues those who gave out their presentions, making the majority of the handshake supporters and of Opposition Leader Raila Odinga, as well expressed a conflict of interest.
He criticized them for trying to take advantage of the initiative to push for a referendum which will create the position of a powerful executive Prime Minister and a popularly elected but powerless President.
“What I have observed is that those who turned out to give their views are only those who agree with the handshake and who already have fixed their minds that we will have a referendum to create a parliamentary system under a powerful executive Prime Minister and a popularly elected but powerless President.”
