Edwin Abonyo, the widower of late Bomet governor Joyce Laboso, has assured incoming governor Hillary Barchok that he has full support of the family as he takes over his new role.
Speaking during the swearing-in ceremony, which was attended by the Deputy President William Ruto and the Members from the council of governors, Abonyo stated that his family will give the county government of Bomet full support under the leadership of Barchok.
“There is no contestation about you taking over…You have our support as a family,” Abonyo stated.

His words were echoed by Ruto who also assured Barchok of full support from the national government to ensure that Laboso’s dreams become a reality.

Barchok was sworn in shortly after 10 am on Thursday by High Court judge George Dullu in a ceremony held at Bomet’s Green Stadium in Sotik.

Barchok becomes the third Governor after the late Laboso and inaugural Governor Isaac Ruto.
