Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea has sparked hilarious reactions online after his special welcome message to Harry Maguire.
The Red Devils, on Monday, confirmed they had secured the England international on a six-year contract, and while financial details of the deal were not disclosed, British media reported the transfer fee was around ยฃ80 million (S$134.3 million), making him the worldโs most expensive defender.
While many United players like Marcus Rashford and Jesse Lingard sent a welcome message to Maguire, fans pinpointed David De Gea’s welcome post, which was deemed unique for some reasons.
Jesse Lingard posted;
Congratulations on the move @HarryMaguire93! Great to have you here ๐ด. Always enjoy playing with you for @England and know youโre bringing top quality to our team! #MUFC pic.twitter.com/YGHTIPvkjV

It has been a while since De Gea posted a welcoming message to new signings and this raised speculation regarding his relationship with defenders Chris Smalling, Phil Jones and Ashley Young, who featured in many matches last season infront of him.
On a real, have any of you seen DDG welcome a signing like this in recent times? https://t.co/8wD2L14m3d

No๐๐. I think it also confirms him as club captain. He literally had no relation to Maguire but still tweeted that.

In the last season, the Red Devils conceded about 50 goals in the Premier League under the watch of De Gea, Chris Smalling, and Phil Jones. This was the worst season defensively since 1978-79 when they shipped 63 goals.
