Unknown to many, Bomet Deputy Governor Hillary Barchok has managed to maintain a low profile on his position despite being the one running county while the Late Governor Joyce Laboso was seeking treatment abroad.

And all eyes are now on him as he is set to assume the county’s top seat as the third governor following the demise of Joyce Laboso on Monday.

According to a gazette notice, Dr Barchok will be sworn in as the governor on Thursday, August 8.

He is a curriculum development specialist who before joining politics as Laboso’s running mate, was serving as the dean school of education at Chuka University.

He is a former high school teacher and a Christian preacher who was picked from university lecture halls to politics ahead of the 2017 election.

He has been holding briefs for the late Governor Laboso in the last one month that she had been undergoing treatment.

Edwin Abonyo, Laboso’s husband, on Friday during a memorial service at Sotik, described him as a professional and Christian who shared same values with his Joyce and had a belief that would lead the county in the right direction.
