“Empty promises result to Empty containers” These are the exact words Kenyans have used to mock their government just hours receiving ‘Empty promises’ from the Chinese government.
When the Kenyan parliament was promised a donation of laptops and computer projectors by the National People’s Congress of China early this year, little did it know that it was about to become a ‘laughing stock’ among its own citizens.
After days of waiting, the sealed consignment which was to be delivered through the Chinese Embassy in Kenya indeed arrived at Parliament Square at the end of July 2019, labeled as ‘diplomatic goods’.
“Indeed a container arrived at Parliament Square on July 30, 2019, where I appointed some officers from the National Assembly to confirm the delivery as per the correspondence from the consignee (Chinese Embassy),” reads the statement by Mr. Sialai who is the Clerk of the National Assembly.
Immediately after opening the container seals, the excitement that came with receiving ‘free donations’ from the Chinese was however cut short. The container was confirmed to have been Empty!
And in a quick move to act on the ’embarrassment’, the DCI called the Chinese Embassy to inform them of the ‘Empty Container brought by M/S Bollore Africa Transport & Logistics Ltd.

Shortly after news spread that the Kenyan government has once again been tricked by the loan lenders the Chinese government, Kenyans took to their social media sites to express their ‘humour’ with others mocking the government calling the empty delivery a taste of their own medicine

Somebody somewhere knows that story better if it were not for the police then it would have been said that the goods were delivered since we don't work and sit anywhere near Parliament. #tusibebwemalenge
