Another sad day, another cancer victim. July has been a dark month, with three prominent people succumbing to cancer. These are just the people on the limelight, people who can afford treatment abroad. What about those Kenya’s who cannot afford to fly out for treatment? We at Opera News desk extend our heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of the Late Governor Joyce Laboso, as well as the entire Bomet County.

There has been a notion that one knows when his or her time to die is approaching? How true is that? What did Laboso tell doctors before she died?

Things seem to be getting tougher for Kiambu boss Ferdinand Waititu. This comes with the state wanting him  to be barred from returning to office until his case is concluded. Is this a genuine fight against corruption or just a fight against Waititu?

Are we, as a country, ready for a referendum? According to ANC party leader Musalia Mudavadi, we are not. We give you the reason Mudavadi thinks we are not ready for that crucial exercise.

What Laboso told doctors days before she died

Eight days ago, Bomet Governor Joyce Laboso had told her doctor she wanted to be discharged.

In the past two months, Dr Laboso had been in hospitals in London, India and finally at the Nairobi Hospital, where she died yesterday.“I want to go rest at home,” she had told one of her doctors on July 21 from her hospital bed in the high dependency unit (HDU).

State wants Waititu locked out of office

Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu spent another night in custody as he battled to save his term in office after facing charges in relation to alleged irregular award of Sh588 million contracts for roads repair.

Waititu, his wife Susan Wangari Ndun’gu, Kiambu County Chief Officer for Roads and Transport Luka Mwangi Waihinya, six county employees, a businessman and his wife were charged with various counts of conflict of interest, dealing with suspect property, money laundering and abuse of office. They denied the charges.

Kenyans not ready for constitutional change, says Mudavadi

Kenyans are not ready for a constitutional change, ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi has said. Mudavadi said the majority of Kenyans are already bogged down by hard economic times.

He said the push for a referendum is only being driven by politicians who have abandoned the needs of the electorate. The ANC party boss, however, said any constitutional change decisions should be people-driven.
