Waititu to spend Sunday in cells after detectives pounce on him

Tokeo la picha la Ferdinand WaitituIn most cases, courts think that you’re a more responsible person if you surrender yourself to the police after a warrant of arrest, is issued against you. And this is exactly what Kiambu governor Ferdinand Waititu aka Baba yao did on Sunday morning.

According to EACC Spokesman Yassin Amaro, Waititu presented himself to the Ethics and Anti-corruption unit on Sunday morning accompanied by his lawyer Kipchumba Karori.

Police had launched a manhunt for the governor on Friday night when the director of Public Prosecutions Noordin Haji confirmed that Sh25,624,500 was credited to an account linked to the governor and his wife through their company known as Saika Two Estate Developers Limited from —a firm contracted by the county to develop roads through an irregular tendering process.

It is alleged that the directors of M/s Testimony Enterprises were close associates of the governor, and they had already been paid Sh147.3 million.

The firm Testimony enterprises Limited is also alleged to have been awarded several other contracts amounting to over Sh74 million.
