Gor Mahia coach Hassan Oktay says veteran striker Dennis Oliech is still in his plans despite the fact that the former Harambee Stars captain is yet to link up with the rest of the team for pre-season.
Oliech has been in the sidelines since May nursing a fractured arm and there have been rumors that he could part ways with the Kenyan champions ahead of the 2019/20 Kenyan Premier League campaign.
Oktay however insists that the striker has a role to play in the team next season following the exit of lead striker Jacques Tuyisenge who moved to Angolan giants, Petro Atletico.
“Oliech is still in my plans. He is a very experienced player and now that we have lost Tuyisenge, he will have an important role to play in the team next season,” he stated.
“He’s still recovering from the arm injury he picked towards the end of last season and once he has fully healed, he will link up with the team. I hope to have him back soonest,” he added.
Oliech came out of retirement last November and joined Gor Mahia. He scored five league goals for the club and one in the Caf Confederation Cup.
