A matatu driver who doubled as a student at Kenyatta University has graduated with a degree in actuarial science.
According to social media post by Maina Mwangi, Mr. Travis Mwaniki hails from Ndeiya in Kiambu County works with Nakili Sacco as a driver graduated with a degree in Actuarial Science.
“Travis is a matatu driver and a KU student at the same time. Today, he graduates with a degree in Actuarial Science. Congratulations Travis. You’re an inspiration to many,’ Mwangi posted.
Mr. Travis attended Kirangari high School according to his Facebook bio.
Actuarial science is the discipline that applies mathematical and statistical methods to access risks in insuarance, finance, and other industries and professions. Actuaries are professionals trained in this discipline. In many countries, actuaries must demonstrate their competence by passing a series of rigorous professional examinations.
Mr. Travis story broke out a few days after Citizen Tv aired a story of Kelvin Ochieng an actuarial graduate who tarmacked for years seeking job opportunities and finally ended up on the street as parking boy.
Mr. Ochieng had scored first-class honors. Unfortunately, he never had the opportunity to attend his graduation. He had no money.
