‘Yattani is More Corrupt than Rotich!’ Kenyans React on Treasury Replacement

President Uhuru Kenyatta on Wednesday named Labour and Social Protection Cabinet Secretary Ukur Yattani acting Treasury CS, a day after Henry Rotich was charged with graft related charges.

The announcement was made by State House Spokesperson Kanze Dena who said the changes were for the smooth running of operations at the National Treasury.

Kenyans who have stormed social media to express their dissatisfaction arguing that Yattani is not the right person to occupy the ‘moneyman’s’ position.

According to a majority of people who described President Uhuru’s decision as a joke, questioned his criteria in appointing the former Marsabit Governor into the position as he has been under investigation by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) in mega scandals which involve misappropriation of funds, corruption and abuse of office.

Last year, Marsabit county leaders rejected his Cabinet Secretary nomination, accusing him of instigating divisive politics of exclusion, cultivation of suspicion, fear, and mistrust among communities, which they stated is what has thrived his career.
