Manchester United are in the process of identifying the club’s new Captain. The position was left vacant after Antonio Valencia parted ways with the English Record Champions at the end of last season.

Here, we look into 3 players who could replace the Ecuador star as the next Manchester United skipper.

Ashley Young

He served as the Red Devils captain for most of last season as Antonio Valencia was injured. He is the current vice-captain and the obvious pick to replace the departed right back as skipper.

The versatile defender can play in all positions across the backline and is a natural leader both on and off the pitch. Ole Gunnar must be thinking of promoting Young as the official club’s captain.

Paul Pogba

The French World Cup winner knows the ins and out at Manchester United. He grew up at the club’s academy before his move to Juventus and then back to the Red Devils for a club-record fee.

With the midfielder rumored to be pushing for a move away from Old Trafford, maybe handing him the captaincy would be a cheeky method of persuading him to stay.

David De Gea

The Spanish goalkeeper has been at the club for 8 years and is close to agreeing on a new deal that will possibly extend his stay fora further 4 years. He is undoubtedly World Class and one of the few players survivors from the Sir Alex Ferguson era.

If Manchester United are looking for a sure starter as the next Captain, David De Gea fits that bill perfectly!
