Kenyans online have lauded Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen following his discloser that he together with the Senate are going to fully support Third Way Alliance Partly leader Ekuru Okoth on his Punguza Mizigo referendum initiative.

According to the vocal Senator who is a strong defender of Deputy President William Ruto, the proposal to make the Senate an upper House is likely to be received well by senators.

“In the current context of what we are going through, the constitutional issues we are dealing with in the Senate and counties, Aukot’s proposals are extremely attractive to those who support devolution, if it is that attractive, there is a high probability that his proposal will pass,” Murkomen said

It is, however, Murkomen’s tweet on Saturday 20th that warmed the hearts f many Kenyans including those who had been his critics in the past.

In the tweet, Murkomen had observed that MCAs had the only opportunity to have their voices heard by supporting the Punguza Mizigo initiative since they had been despised for too long by their county bosses.

“MCAs have the greatest opportunity to stamp their authority by supporting ‘s Punguza Mzigo initiative. MCAs have been despised for far too long. They should approve it overwhelmingly to remind all&sundry that devolution&its institutions matter. Forward the baby to Senate.” read the tweet.

Ekuru Oukoth’s  Punguza Mizigo initiative breath into life after it met the required threshold for consideration. According to the IEBC which received the bill on Thursday, the bill had gotten over one million Kenyan signatures hence met the required threshold of one million signatures.

“The Punguza Mizigo proposed constitutional amendments, will save Kenyans over Sh3.78 trillion which is higher than the current national annual budget.

With this money, we will be able to meet the demands of nurses, teachers and doctors and even create jobs for our growing youth population,” read a statement from the ThirdWay Alliance, released in April 11, 2019.

Kenyans, mostly who were used to the Senator’s stern opposition on matters of their interests were, however, full of praise for the second term Senator with many observing that Murkomen was now back to his ‘senses’ and doing was is expected of him by Kenyans.

Here are some of the reactions from Kenyans on Twitter and also from Facebook;

Peter Njoroge Nganga Obviously DP Ruto almost always get it right all the time. Hio Bill ya PunguzaMzingo by Dkt Aukot can actually take you to the House on the Hill. Anything that you kills the supremacy of Parliament is most welcome to millions of Kenyans

Watulo Benson Wekesa Murkomen is now becoming a real man, but i read malice in this, he knows very well that political bigwigs like Orengo and Amollo dont support it. It may flot
