Kiambu County Governor Ferdinand Waititu has been hitting headlines, not for good reasons. Barely days after his County’s bizarre budget was unmasked, detectives from Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission were at his doorsteps for his involvement in graft.
Well, away from that, governor Baba Yao on Thursday hit the headlines again when reports emerged that he has listed his In-law to be (father to the man marrying his daughter) as chairman county Public Service.
This caused an uproar on social media with Kenyans condemning him for involving in corruption alongside his family.

City Lawyer Donald Kipkorir was among the Kenyans who hit hard Waititu for his involvement in corruption. Kipkorir accused Waititu of taking corruption to new levels.
“Ferdinand Waititu is taking Corruption to new levels. Even before his daughter is married on July 20, he is proposing his in law as the Chairman Of Kiambu Public Service Board. Hope the wedding isn’t contrived to mitigate against the arrests of Waititu Family for Corruption,” tweeted the controversial lawyer.

But is that the case? Governor Waititu has finally come out to defend his family over the allegations. The County chief says he doesn’t see any fault in employing his wife and daughter in his companies.
He says he is ready to defend himself like a man in a Court of law against graft charges if he is found guilty.
“I don’t see any fault in employing my wife and daughter in my companies. I am ready to defend myself like a man in court against graft charges If found guilty – Waititu defends wife and daughter over graft claims,” says Waititu.
The Director of Public prosecutions (DPP) has already approved the prosecution of Waititu, his family alongside 8 other county chief officers over allegations of corruption.
