Arsenal could be on the verge of completing a transfer to sign Brazil winger Everton Soares according to reports from the Brazilian press. There were reports last week that Arsenal’s new Technical Director Edu is a big fan of the player whom he has worked with while working for the National team.

The deal is expected to be in the region of 40 million with the report also adding that the Gunners have sent their doctors for a medical check-up on the player.

Everton Soares is an exciting 23 years old forward who is capable of playing on any position across the front three. Arsenal are in dire need of a forward who can score goals as their only goal threat last season came from the two strikers; Pierre Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette.

Soares impressed in the just concluded Copa America tournament that was held in his country. Brazil won the tournament in a relatively easy fashion and the Gremio man was awarded the man of the match award in the 2-0 final win over Peru.

Should the deal go through, he will become the second Arsenal signing from Brazil having already captured 18-year-old Gabriel Martinelli from Ituano. The youngster even bagged a goal on his debut match in a pre-season friendly against the Colorado Rapids on Tuesday.

Signing Everton would surely mean that Arsenal will no longer pursue Crystal Palace winger Wilfred Zaha who has an 80 million price tag.
