AFC Leopards signs Malian striker

Kenya Premier League giants AFC Leopards have confirmed the signing of a Malian striker Ismaila Diarra. Leopards are in a recruitment spree after a torrid run last season where they finished 11th in the Premier League table.

In a bid to revamp their striking force, Ingwe believes that the Malian will fill the void they had last season. Leopards have signed him from CA Bordj Bou Arreridj of the Algerian Ligue Professionnelle 1, where he joined last year on a three-year deal.

Diarra joined the Rwandan National Football League side Rayon Sports in 2016 on a six-month deal. He renewed his contract with the club in summer the same year after a superb display in the domestic league.

AFC have been direly looking for the signature of the 27-year-old and they were to sign him in Summer 2016. The Malian striker was said to have signed a pre-contract agreement with the Ingwe and was even registered by the Football Kenya Federation but Rayon Sports were obstinate that he was still their player and had not been officially released.

AFC Leopards proceeded to bring the case to FIFA, hoping that the football governing body could take appropriate action to the Rwandan club.

The 27-year-old has signed a deal of two years with AFC Leopards.
