Deputy President William Ruto route to the presidency has no doubt caused desperation among those against his 2022 bid.

On Sunday, while the DP was presiding over a funds drive for 35 churches in Eldama-Ravine, Baringo County, boldly send a coded message to his enemies warning them against being gagged from reaching out to the electorate.

“Tomorrow’s activities are always planned today,” said the DP in an apparent confession that he had already hit the campaign trail.

Ruto’s statement has since caused an uproar in the Kieleweke camp. Nyeri Town MP Ngunjiri Wambugu now claims that the DP’s utterance is a direct message to his boss that he is not ready to give up on early politics.

“The DP is clearly running his own agenda and show and has even warned against being stopped or distracted from his mission. While he has every right to lobby for the presidency, the weighty question is: Why is he campaigning against the wishes of his boss? Clearly, there is a problem here,” he said.

Ngunjiri went on to weigh into Ruto’s tweet accusing Jubilee Secretary General Raphael Tuju of playing an inside job in Opposition Leader Raila Odinga’s camp.

“So our democracy is so liberal that the SG of a ruling party has become the chief strategist of the opposition!! Maajabu (Wonders!!),” Read a post on Ruto’s Twitter handle.

Ngunjiri accused Ruto of making efforts to bring down Uhuru’s government so that he can take over by attacking those in it including Cabinet Secretaries, Principal Secretaries,  the ruling party’s Secretary General.

“If you are in government as an elected or appointed leader or technocrat and you have a problem with something the government is doing you speak to your colleagues, seniors or juniors, and solve it internally. However, in Kenya, we have people elected and appointed to government fighting the government in public podiums like opposition! They are attacking Cabinet Secretaries, Principal Secretaries, and now the ruling party’s Secretary General! Clearly they want to weaken the government – why?”
