Arsenal submit improved bid for Tierney but face one major problem

Arsenal’s search for a new left-back may be over after the Gunners submitted a final offer for Celtic left-back Kieran Tierney. The Londoners had a first bid rejected but it is believed the latest bid which is reported to be 25 Milion Euros will be accepted by the Scottish Champions.

The Gunners have lacked a natural left back in the team as Nacho Monreal’s age does not him allowed to complete a whole season while Sead Kolasinac is more comfortable as a left wing-back than as a left back.

However, should a deal for Tierney go through, Arsenal fans will have to wait a while before they actually see him play since he is injured and will not be fit in time for the start of the new season which kicks off on the 9th of August.

Unai Emery’s team is currently in the United States for pre-season duties. They will feature in this year’s International Champions Cup where the Europa League finalists last season will face off with the likes of Bayern Munchen and Real Madrid.

The Gunners are also expected to make an improved bid for Crystal Palace winger Wilfred Zaha. Unai Emery is said to be a huge fan of the player but the club’s finances could prove to be stumbling block. Palace is said to be holding up for 80 million.

Interestingly, the Gunners have not been linked with any defender this window despite that area being one of the worst departments last season. Arsenal let in a total of 51 goals, more than Newcastle United who finished 13th last season.

With the transfer window in England closing a day before the new season starts, not much time remains for the club to complete deals.
