Angered Senate Majority Leader, Kipchumba Murkomen, went for lawyer Prof. Makau Mutua over his anti-Ruto statements during an interview on Wednesday.
The US-based lawyer had claimed that Deputy President William Ruto is no longer relevant in the contest to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta as he completes his second and final term in office arguing that Uhuru should have already taken the initiative to fired him since the two are no longer reading from the same page.
The obviously agitated Murkomen went on to fault Makau for wasting his time talking ill of Ruto, yet himself could not even successfully contest for a MCA of Matinyani Ward (a Kitui County Ward).
“I am told that Makau Mutua has cracked the joke of the century. In an election he can’t even beat the MCA of Matinyani Ward (assuming he knows where Matinyani Ward is)”, read Murkomen’s tweet.

As if that wasn’t enough, the Elgeiyo Marakwet Senator went on to rubbish Makau Mutua ‘s career as a human rights lawyer arguing that his palpable hatred to Ruto doesn’t qualify him for such a position.
“While watching the Nigeria vs South Africa game, I am told there is a visitor on JKLive, who has used over 40mins to spew vitriol against one individual.
“He believes the problems of Kenya start and end with WSR (Ruto). You can’t have a purported human rights lawyer, whose hatred of an individual is that palpable,” read Murkomen’s tweet.

It is not the first time that the two have publicly clashed over Ruto’s 2022 succession. A few months ago, Prof Makau called on the Kalenjin community to reject Ruto ahead of the 2022 Presidential race has not augured well with his allies claiming that his kinsmen should look for another candidate who has numbers to rise to power when that time comes
“I beseech the Kalenjin Nation to wake up and smell the black coffee. DP William Ruto is now politically “finished.” Look elsewhere for 2022. Putting your eggs in the Hustler’s basket is a looser — a fool’s errand,” he tweeted.
In a quick rejoinder, Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen has said that DP Ruto is not the choice of the Kalenjin community but the whole nation.
