Gor Mahia set to drop Ugandan attacker

Kenyan Premier League champions Gor Mahia are set to release Ugandan attacker Erisa Ssekisambu, Opera News understands.

The former Vipers SC man, who joined the Kenyan giants in November 2018 was sparingly used by coach Hassan Oktay with Jacques Tuyisenge, Nicholas Kipkirui, Dennis Oliech and Samuel Onyango above him in the pecking order.

He scored five league goals for Gor during the 2018/19 season that included a hattrick against Mt. Kenya United early in the season.

Gor recently signed two Tanzanian players: David Kissu and Dickson Ambundo and now have six foreign players in their books. They now have to part ways with one . They foreigners are: Hashim Sempala, Shafik Batambuze, Francis Mustafa, Dickson Ambundo and David Kissu and Ssekisambu.

“Ssekisambu is leaving the club. He did not impress coach Oktay last season and the tactician recommended that he be released by the club,” a source from Gor camp told Opera News.

Ssekisambu’s impending exit was all but confirmed on Friday when Gor Mahia assigned his number 22 jersey to new signing Elvis Ronack. The player was also not included in Gor Mahia’s Cecafa Kagame Cup squad.

Meanwhile the club has signed seven players and promoted three others from the youth team. The newly signed players are :Dennis Oalo, Curtis Wekesa, Abdalla Shira, Tobias Otieno, Elvis Ronack, Dickson Ambundo and David Kissu Mapigano. The promoted ones are: Alphonce Omija, Caleb Omondi and Samuel Osoo.
