Liverpool goalkeeper Allison Becker has made history by being the first goalkeeper to win not one but 3 golden gloves awards in a single season. The Brazil international has had sensational season between the sticks and won the Champions League last season with Jurgen Klopp’s side.
Becker, signed for a record fee from Italian Club AS Roma won the English Premier League golden glove after keeping 21 clean sheets in 38 Premier League matches. He kept one more than Manchester City’s Ederson who coincidentally also plays for Brazil’s national team.
The 26-year-old also won the Champions League golden boot after keeping 6 clean sheets, level with Barcelona’s Andre Ter Stegen. He was also named in the UEFA Champions League team of the Year.
The former AS Roma custodian is currently with Brazil in the ongoing Copa America tournament where he is set to face Peru in the final this Sunday. He is set to win the golden glove having conceded no goal in Brazil’s five matches and kept out the likes of Lionel Messi and Sergio Aguero in the semifinals.
Allison has not conceded a goal in his last 9 competitive appearances. The record-breaker’s past nine matches have included, Barcelona, Wolves, Tottenham, Honduras, Bolivia, Venezuela, Peru, Paraguay, and Argentina.
Alisson has been a revelation since joining the Reds in a £67million deal from Roma last summer. If he wins the final against Peru on Sunday without conceding a goal, Allison will complete the tournament with a perfect record!
