‘I Will come back to you as a Ghost’ Collymore told Friends

Even as the country continues to pour tributes and celebrate the life of a man who greatly transformed Kenya’s leading Telco company Safaricom, more details concerning Bob Collymore’s last charts with his friends continues to emerge.

In an exclusive tribute, Radio Africa Group CEO Mr Patrick Quarcoo remembers their last chart with Bob Collymore on Saturday when they had paid him a visit together with Nairobi politician Peter Kenneth, Tv journalist Jeff Koinange, Bharat Thakrar and Nic Hailey.

In their last conversation, Patrick remembers how Bob who was full of life joked about his demise promising come back to them as a ghost.

“’I don’t know about this heaven and earth thing, but I truly hope there is a life after death.’ said Bob.

“When we asked him why he was saying so, he answered” ‘If there are ghosts, I will surely come and rustle the curtains and on birthdays when you light the candles for my children, I will come and help blow them out’,” said Bob amid laughter from his friends.

According to Patrick’s narrations, Bob had already predicted his death saying that he could be lucky if he could get some more three days to live.

”If I get three more days, I will be lucky.” Asking him on what Patrick and his friend should do for him when he was gone, Bob answered them. ‘Stay together, stand by Wambui’,”

Patrick recalled how the late Bob transformed the lives of many of his friends. ‘He made us embrace humanity more, transformed our hearts and to always be ready in helping others’ said Patrick.

Bob Collymore died on Monday morning and was cremated at the Hindu Shamsan Bhumi crematorium near Gikomba on Tuesday at a private ceremony that was restricted to only family members.

Bob Collymore’s death immediately sent most Kenyans on an information searching hunt. Data released by Google early on Monday indicated that more than 500,000 Kenyans searched for “Bob Collymore” via the search engine on Monday as the news of his death emerged.

He left behind a widow and four children.
