Uganda Cranes will take on Senegal in the round of 16 after emerging the runners-up to Egypt in group A. Senegal went through after winning their deciding match against Kenya. After the loss to Egypt, Uganda’s head coach Sebastian Desabre expressed his optimism and readiness to tackle any team.

“The opponent is not very important for us. Kenya or Senegal is not the same level. But I prefer Senegal it gives us a chance to play another strong team.
“For me, it’s a game and it’s a knockout game and all is possible in football. What is important is to go there and give our all no matter what.”
It will be Cranes’ first Nations Cup knockout game since playing Nigeria’s, Super Eagles in the semis playedin Ghana in 1978. Uganda will play the Lions of Teranga on Friday night at the 75,000 seater capacity Cairo International stadium.
Senegal, having beaten two CECAFA teams Tanzania (2-0) and Kenya (3-0), will now face resilient Cranes, who have had a fair display in the group stage campaign.
The winner between the Lions of Teranga and Cranes will proceed to the quarter-finals.
