AFCON2019: I prefer Senegal, Uganda coach takes a swipe at Kenya

Uganda  Cranes will take on Senegal in the round of 16 after emerging the runners-up to Egypt in group A. Senegal went through after winning their deciding match against Kenya. After the loss to Egypt, Uganda’s head coach Sebastian Desabre expressed his optimism and readiness to tackle any team.

While many thought that Desabre will root for, Kenya that’s coached by his compatriot, Sebastian Migne to go through to the round of 16, he indicated that he fancies meeting Senegal in the round of 16

“The opponent is not very important for us. Kenya or Senegal is not the same level. But I prefer Senegal it gives us a chance to play another strong team.

“For me, it’s a game and it’s a knockout game and all is possible in football. What is important is to go there and give our all no matter what.”

It will be  Cranes’ first Nations Cup knockout game since playing Nigeria’s,  Super Eagles in the semis playedin  Ghana in  1978. Uganda will play the Lions of Teranga on Friday night at the 75,000 seater capacity Cairo International stadium.

Senegal, having beaten two CECAFA teams Tanzania (2-0) and Kenya (3-0), will now face resilient Cranes, who have had a fair display in the group stage campaign.

The winner between the Lions of Teranga and Cranes will proceed to the quarter-finals.
