KCB ropes in highly rated Kisumu AllStars winger

Kenyan Premier League side, Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) FC has raided Kenyan Premier League, newbie KCB for highly rated winger, Ian Motanda who has penned a two-year deal with the Bankers.

The speedy winger was widely expected to join Kisumu based KPL side, Western Stima after training with the side for a few days but they have now been pipped to his services by Zedekiah Otieno’s side.

An alumnus of football powerhouse, Barding High School, Motanda is known for his blistering pace, dribbles and excellent crossing. He also has an eye for goal and he is a dead-ball specialist as well.

KCB manager, Bramwell Simiyu has confirmed Motanda’s arrival whilst exuding confidence that the 20-year old will help beef up his side further ahead of the new season.

“I can confirm that Ian Motanda has joined us. He is a player we’ve scouted for a while now and I am delighted that we have finally managed to acquire his services for the next two years. We believe that he will bring some quality into the team,” Simiyu told Opera News.

Motanda was on the radar of several Kenyan Premier League clubs. Western Stima, Kariobangi Sharks and Bandari were all interested in the winger’s services.

Meanwhile the club has also confirmed the appointment of Charles ‘Korea’ Omondi as their new goalkeepers’ trainer. Omondi who until his appointment was the keepers’ trainer/assistant coach at National Super League (NSL) side, Bidco United, takes over from Alex ‘Lalas’ Mwangi whose contract with the club has expired.

Simiyu has thanked exciting Lalas for this services to the club and wished him all the best for the future.

“Lalas has left the club and we wish him all the best for the future. Korea is our keeper goalkeepers’ trainer and we believe he will do a good job with our keepers,” he added.

Korea is a former Tusker FC, Sony Sugar and Nairobi City Stars trainer.
