The calls for a revolution is not something new in Kenya’s political arena in the recent past. With the rising levels of unemployment, over taxation, corruption, and the high cost of living, a section of Kenyans feel that revolution would be the way out.

Former Gichugu Member of Parliament Martha Karua who has now joined on the chants for revolution is arguing that poor governance among political leaders is the reason behind too much anger and frustrations among Kenyans.

Speaking on a local TV interview on Monday, the vocal Lawyer went on to warn of a looming revolution in the country like in the case of Sudan.

“People are dying, people are getting angry. There is a day people will come out, with or without the police teargas. Like the case of Sudan even after the military killed 100 people. If a leader cannot work, why earn a salary?”  she ranted.

While responding to the question of Kerugoiya Hospital scandal, Kuria went on to throw a jab at her counterpart Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waruguru.

“Why ask for a job if you cannot do it? Why earn a salary and not perform as tasked to? Health is very critical and you cannot ignore it!”

Karua statement is happening just a week after Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria threatened to call for a revolution after being teargassed outside Parliament.

“I think we are joking with serious matters because this kind of escalation might result in totally unintended consequences… We are setting this country in a path that might be irreversible. Someone is adding petrol on small embers which might be a big fire of a revolution. It is coming, I can smell it. The smell of a revolution is stronger than the smell of teargas that we have taken in today,” he added.
