Kariobangi Sharks appoints former Leopards midfielder as coach

Kenyan Premier League side, Kariobangi Sharks has confirmed the appointment of former AFC Leopards midfielder Ezekiel Seda as their new assistant coach ahead of 2019/20 campaign.

Seda was forced to retire from the game a week ago due to a niggling injury that has been pestering him since March. The decision came as a shock to many as the 28-year old was still a key player at the den.

“This is the has been the hardest to make, this injury has led me to consider my playing career and I have come to a conclusion that at this point I would wish to put an end to my playing career and pursue other ventures,” Seda said while announcing his retirement from the game.

Sharks have now announced Seda’s appointment as their new  assistant coach, he will deputize head coach William Muluya.  He takes  the position vacated by former Sony Sugar assistant coach Collins ‘Korea’ Omondi who left the club a week ago. Omondi is reportedly heading to KCB in the same capacity.

“The Club is pleased to announce Ezekiel Seda as the new senior team assistant coach. He takes over the role with immediate effect.  Seda shall deputise coach William in what is his first managerial role. We look forward to his contribution to the project at our club,” Sharks announced.

The player joined AFC Leopards for the first time in 2011 and formed a formidable partnership with Bernard Mang’oli in the middle of Ingwe’s park. Both players received several call-ups to the national team, Harambee Stars during that period.

He exited Leopards ion 2015 during a period Leopards was facing serious financial crisis and joined Mathare United. He played for Mathare until June 2018 when he returned to the den. His return was however injury-plagued and forced the Kakamega High School alumnus to call it a day.
