Bandari head coach refutes Shikhalo links to Yanga FC

                                             Bandari head coach Bernard Mwalala

Bandari FC head coach Bernard Mwalala has dismissed reports linking the side’s goalkeeper Farouk Shikalo with a move to Tanzania giants, Yanga.

Shikalo was on Friday evening pictured signing a document in Cairo next to a Yanga official with reports indicating that he has signed a contract with the Jangwani side.

“Farouk is a Bandari FC player. He has still has a contract with us and from our end we know he’s in Egypt for the African Cup of Nations,” Mwalala told Opera News.

“Yanga has not approached us for his services, neither has the player informed us that he wants to leave and you cannot claim that you’ve signed a player without an agreement with his club, the rules are very clear on procedures to be followed when signing a player”.

“I don’t know what he was signing yesterday. We’ve just seen pictures on social media, maybe he was writing his name or details on paper but it’s definitely not a contract because Yanga understands the consequences of such an illegal move”, added Mwalala.

The 22-years-old who is the second goalkeeper for the national team has had two wonderful seasons with the dockers who finished runners-up in the Kenya Premier league twice in a row.

Differently, Bandari are also the current Sportspesa Shield champions after beating Kariobangi Sharks in a match that was played in Kasarani and will represent the country in the CAF Confederations Cup.

Shikalo had initially admitted being interested with the move if the offer appeals to him with the Tanzanians having posted his image on their official Twitter account welcoming him to the club, a post they have since deleted.
