Lucas Torreira has refuted claims of a summer move to Italian giants AC Milan. The Arsenal midfielder has been strongly linked with a move back to Serie with reports claiming that he did not enjoy his one year stay at the Emirates. Torreira has however quashed rumors of an exit while speaking to the media at the ongoing Copa America tournament.

“I don’t know anything about interest from Milan,” he said. “Nobody has called me. I am in the Premier League today and am happy to be part of Arsenal.

“It’s true, it hasn’t been easy adapting, but I am only thinking of the team now.

“I’m happy to be in London.”

Torreira was one of the main positives for Arsenal in Unai Emery’s first season in charge.

Meanwhile, Celtic manager Neil Lennon has confirmed that Arsenal’s bid for left-back Keiran Tierney was rejected by the Scottish champions. The Gunners are understood to have opened negotiations by tabling a £15 million bid, a long way short of the player’s £25 million valuation.

“Arsenal are aware of what we value the player at,” Lennon told the Scottish media

“He’s on a long-term contract, he’s an asset and we don’t want to sell him. There have been no more bids that I’m aware of.

“It’s going to have to take a lot more than what they’ve offered the first time around to give us a decision to make. I’ve had a chat with Kieran as it can be a difficult decision and bit unsettling.

“I’ve been there myself so it’s important that we support him regardless of the outcome. His fitness progress is slow. It will be a couple of weeks yet.”

Sead Kolasinacis expected to leave should the Gunner seal the Tierney deal.
