The US Government is ready to intervene on the plight of Kenya-Somalia border row. The row between two countries have been escalating for over sometime now.

Somalia intends to redraw a boundary that has existed since 1979, taking 51,000 square kilometers of the Exclusive Economic Zone and 95,000 kilometres of continental shelf from Kenya.

Kenya has remained firm to an extent of vowing not to allow the losing of even an inch to Somalia.

However US Government through Ambassador Kyle McCarter has stated it is ready to facilitate the understanding between two nations.

Speaking to Citizen TV Ambassador Kyle said that US is ready to facilitate negotiations between Kenyan Leaders and those from Somalia to end the row.

The US Ambassador has insisted on outside court negotiation between the two countries to end the border row.

“The US is working to facilitate a settlement. I believe Kenya and Somalia can live together as good neighbours,”he said.

McCarter has also retorted that both Kenya and Somalia have many things in common which cannot be washed away by border dispute.

The outspoken Former Illinois Senator has also claimed that both Kenya and Somalia have one common enemy ‘Alshabaab’ which they need to unite to root them out.

This comes just days after The Arab Parliament sent a stern warning to Kenya ordering it to stop interfering with matters to do with the sovereign state of Somalia.

It went on to accuse Kenya of trying to draw an unfounded map in a bid to win over the hotly contested territorial grounds.

“The Arab Parliament calls on Kenya to get its hands off Somali territorial waters, which are an integral part of the Arab waters, and rejects its false attempts to draw up a new, unfounded map while rejecting its threats to interfere in Somalia’s internal affairs,” read a tweet by the Somali Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

However Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria thinks otherwise. The bold legislature has said that it is time that Kenya flexes its muscles and say no to Somalia has they have enjoyed a lot of luxurious favors from Kenya.
