Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria has sensationally claimed that his people (Kikuyus) do not want anything to do with the famous March 2018 handshake between the region’s kingpin Uhuru Kenyatta and opposition leader Raila Odinga.

Through his Facebook page on Sunday, Kuria claimed he was informed by his people when he attended a concert function at Ruiru Stadium in Kiambu county that they do not want anything to do with the handshake and that they were vehemently fighting it.

Kuria expressed his disappointment over the people’s decision to shun away from the handshake adding that he fully supports it together with the Building Bridges Initiative. Kuria observed that there was a need to educate the locals in order to convince them to support the handshake.

Kuria’s sentiments came at a time when President Uhuru Kenyatta and his newly found brother Raila Odinga have for the second successive times postponed their ‘Meet the people Tour’ to Mt Kenya region after intelligence reports warned of a pending resistance from the locals who were yet to embrace the handshake.

According to sources close from the President’s office, the first meeting which was scheduled to take place between April and May was deferred to June 2019 in what political pundits interpret as a response to the growing rebellion by some Central Kenya leaders who have transferred their allegiance from the President to his deputy William Ruto.

The region which overwhelmingly supported Uhuru Kenyatta in 2017 is largely predicted to be inclining towards William Ruto with a two-thirds majority of elected leaders from the region currently under William Ruto’s Tanga-tanga camp

Kuria’s sentiments were supported by a section of the online users from the group who reiterated that as a region, they were yet to offer their full support owing to the facts the handshake had some hidden agendas against a section of the leaders in the country. They insisted that some leaders had not come out clear on the importance of the handshake to the locals.

Here are some of the reactions from Facebook’s:

Michael Gìthure Njenga: That is it. We as kiambustan don’t negotiate with terrorists. Handshake is another way of giving in to terrorist’s demands. You give him what he want or he make the country ungovernable.

Michael Muthuma: What’s handshake mhes, We can’t live praising two family since independent and our beloved country is sinking in the name of handshake

Izoh Isaacs: Only Kenyatta and Odinga Families needed handshake .. We Kenyans we’ve been living happily with all troubles their fathers and them “sons” has caused this nation. We are always united as Kenyans

Jasho Rekodz:Told you a lot of people are opposed to it actually 85% of Central are I’m in the service industry and i travel large around different Counties most people in the Pro Jubilee zones are against it…… I am opposed to it as well!

Pharis Monte They told you the truth, we give Uhuru votes to run the country but not to shake hands on our behalf, …but we are now suffering the fate of allowing the young construction men to go and play football for us, us knowing very well they sleep at 8pm ,kwanza hapa kwa HARAMBEE STARS BBI IANZE HAPO

Ngurez Uhuru only legacy is uniting Luos and Kikuyu and he is doing it wrong. It’s not about Raila and Him it’s about all of us. He should focus on other ways of making his legacy other than bribing baba to join his camp and ditching Ruto who helped him become president. It’s taking a loan to repay another.

Wa Kang’ara Kuria now you are losing it from the time you started supporting the dynasty. I adore you but you might end up losing relevancy if you continue feeding us things that we dislike.
