Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi has declined reports going around media sites ranking him alongside 10 other members of parliament as members who have never spoken in parliament.

Speaking on Sunday when he presided over a ceremony to award this year’s winners of NG-CDF tournament at his Kapreset constituency, Sudi rubbished the reports saying parliament had over 400 MPs and different roles were distributed among them each with their own areas of specialization.

Sudi maintained that his role was to pass important bills in parliament and not necessarily contributing to parliament debates. He termed his colleagues from the lakeside as the ones tasked with contributing to live debates in parliament.

“Io kazi tuliachia watu wa kingereza mingi wabunge wengine sana sana wale wa nyanza na kona zingine, mimi sikuangi idle nko na kazi mingi na tena naskuma bills kubwa kubwa ya maana kule parliament” loosely translated; We dedicated the task to the masters of English especially those legislators from Nyanza and other parts of the country. I am among the group tasked with pushing important bills in the house. Said Sudi.

According to report released on Sunday by Mzalendo Trust, Oscar Sudi together with a number of ten other legislators have made absolutely no contribution during plenary in the National Assembly for the period September 2017 and December 2018.

Among the silent group includes Emgwen MP Alex Kosgey, his Kapseret counterpart Oscar Sudi as well as Charles Kamuren (Baringo South), Samuel Arama (Nakuru Town West), James Githua Wamacukuru (Kabete), Justus Kizito (Shinyalu), Alfred Sambu (Webuye East), and Joshua Adama (Nyakach).

Among those who were voted as the best contributors in the August house included nominated MPs David Sankok, Jacqueline Adhiambo Oduol and Godfrey Osotsi, with Abshiro Halake, Mary Yiane Senata and Gertrude Musuve Inama leading the list of nominated Senators.

On Sunday, Sudi came under heavy criticism from a section of online users who accused him of being vocal over the social media sites and his own constituency with fewer contributions to the national debates in parliament. Here are some of the reactions from Facebook and Tweeter users.
