Former Harambee Stars striker, Boniface Ambaani has been stripped of his role as head coach of the AFC Leopards Youth Team, the club has confirmed.
The decision was made by the club’s National Executive Committee and takes effect immediately. The move is the latest in an ongoing wrangle between Boniface Ambani and Kenya’s second most successful football club.
Ambani moved to court seeking to stop the AFC Leopards elections after he was barred by the club from participating to the event slated for this Sunday, June 23. His case was however dismissed by the court meaning that the elections will go on as planned.
Ambani confirmed the case dismissal on his official Facebook page and went on to wish all the contestants in the election the best of luck.
Evening ladies and Gentlemen. The High Court has decided that the elections should go on, with a direction that the court shall still annul the elections in future.
Secondly Mr Ben Musundi who came in as an interested party had challenged the jurisdiction of the court, but the court ruled that it had the jurisdiction to hear the matter. And We thank the court for confirming that. The judge stated that,” The petitioner had done all that which could be done in the circumstances of the case and it can not be said that he failed to follow the process availed by the constitution of the club. For the reasons stated, I find the interested party’s assertion that this court has no jurisdiction to be without merit”. It is also very vital to NOTE that my case is based on my fundamental rights as a citizen of Kenya and a member of AFC Leopards. The petition is still on going and I will pursue it to the logical end. As the Judge ruled” … The petitioner has other viable remedies, including nullifying the elections results, will be available to him if his petition succeeds”. His statement read.

The former AFC Leopards striker had also expressed his discontent with the Electoral body handling the poll. Daniel Shikanda, Ronald Namai, Ben Musundi will contest for the Chairman post while. Choge Maurice Chichi and Olivier Napali will contest for the position of treasurer. Robert Omusawa and Oliver Sikuku will contest for the Secretary General position.
