Gor fans plead with the club as Kahata’s departure is imminent

Even as Kenya Premier League teams prepare for the transfer season slated for 17 June to 2 September, Gor Mahia fans have pleaded with their board to get into agreement with Francis Kahata to secure him at the club.

Kahata who joined the Green Army In July 2015 for a contract of four years is currently a free-agent and is open to talks with other clubs.

The sensational midfielder has kept many in darkness as he has not declared which club he will be playing for, a decision he is expected to make after the completion of the African Cup of Nation in July.

He said in a recent interview that, “Yes my contract with Gor Mahia is ending in June but I can’t speak on where my future lies right now because right now I have shifted attention to the African Cup of Nations with the national team. I will only talk about my future after the tournament.”

Kahata also confirmed that he has received a lot of offers from other clubs and Gor Mahia has to do a lot to keep him at the club.

“I have received a lot of offers with Tanzania’s Simba SC among those keen on securing my services, I can’t really reveal other teams but I can confidently say they have contacted me and they want to offer crazy deal. From next month I will be a free agent meaning I can sign with any team I feel like.”

The 27-year-old has admittedly played a big role for the Green Army and according to Gor Mahia coach Hassan Oktay, Kahata is undoubtedly the best creative player in the country.

“Kahata is the best creative midfielder in the country and that is without a doubt. I understand many clubs are salivating for his services, some of them have contacted me personally but again I will fight for a new contract for him to stay at Gor,” said Oktay.

And Gor fans know this as they overwhelmingly voted for the midfielder as their best player of the season 2019-20.

And now, fans have made a solemn request to their club to get into talks with Kahata to seal a deal for the player to stay at the club. In a Twitter post that Gor Mahia were squashing rumourmongers that no player has been signed, Gor fans stole the discussion and drummed their support for Kahata to be given a better offer to stay at K’Ogalo.

Kahata could go to the Tanzanian side Simba FC as the club have been seriously looking for the signature of the player for a long time now

most recent being last year when they offered 9.8 million for the services of the player.

Gor, however, had denied Simba the player and this year could be the best time for them to secure Kahata’s signature.

Kahata had declared his love for Gor Mahia and all will be waiting to see if the club will show their love back.
