Deputy President William Ruto’s church donations have of late been become a source of controversy which has been facing opposition from political leaders to the church itself.
Nyeri Town MP Ngunjiri Wambugu a Kieleweke Leader, a political group associated to President Uhuru Kenyatta, has taken over Ruto again over his donations which he now says is the main reason for divisions in the Mt Kenya region.
Ngunjiri claimed Ruto is making all efforts to unite his backyard Rift valley while using his money to cause divisions in Mount Kenya for his political gains in 2022.
Posting on his Facebook account he said,
“In Rift Valley Ruto wants everyone to work together; losers and winners; for the benefit of the community. His people are even reaching out to the ‘rebels’ opposed to him, to ‘go back home’. He’s essentially doing everything he can to keep RV ‘united’ “.
He went on,
“In Mt Kenya Ruto is using money to split churches, divide leaders (even have some organize how to heckle their colleagues), and undermine Uhuru’s leadership and position as the region’s political leader. He’s essentially doing everything he can to divide us. Tûramûonera 18 …. ”
Ruto previously defended himself against church donations claiming that people should stop judging him harshly.
“When you see some of us go to church, lift hands, make this contribution it’s because we can’t forget where God brought us from Some of us have more to thank God for, than some of us,” he said.
