Barcelona’s chances of signing Ajax defender Matthijs de Ligt is growing dim by day as competitors looking for the signature of the star are emerging aggressively.
Several big European clubs have been eyeing for the star after showing a brilliant display in the last season competitions, both in the domestic league and the Champions League.
The Ajax young defender led his team to lift their domestic double and reach the semi-finals of the Champions League, being bundled out by Tottenham Hotspur.
While clubs like Manchester United and Liverpool have been heavily linked with the star, Barcelona have for a long time remained the favourite to sign the promising young defender.
The Spanish giants have already signed Ajax superstar Frenkie de Jong and the Nou Camp club had reportedly verbally agreed terms with the player after meeting with his agent Mino Raiola.
However, according to reports, PSG and Juventus are willing to pip Barcelona and fight with all they have to sign the 19-year-old.
Juventus have reportedly released a bid of £10 million per season, a fee that is much higher than what Barca has offered to land the star.
PSG, on the other side, have also joined the competition with a more aggressive force though.
The French club are even prepared to offer him a bumper five-year contract that would see him net £13.3million per season, which is more than double the £6m a year offered by Barca.

It is also reported that while Barca are prepared to fork out £66m for the Holland centre back, PSG have set a budget of £80m to prise him away from Amsterdam.
This latest development comes after reports that PSG have become the most likely club to sign De Ligt due to the prospective return of former sporting director Leonardo.
To make matters tougher for the Blaugrana, De Ligt’s agent Mino Raiola was once quoted stating that De Ligt will only be released to a club with the highest bid and this could be the reason why De Ligt have delayed signing for Barca. For this reason, Barcelona may end up losing the signature of the player.
All eyes are waiting to see if De Ligt will make an economic sacrifice and sign for Barca or go with the team with a lucrative offer.
