Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka can now breath a sigh of slight relief after a section of Ukambani Leaders endorsed his 2022 Presidential bid over his political rival in the region, Makueni Governor Kivutha Kibwana.

The leaders who were speaking at Kitonyini secondary school during a Harambee for construction of a school laboratory said the community recognized Mr. Musyoka as a leader capable of winning the presidency.

They were led by Mwingi North MP Paul Nzengu, Meru Senator Mithika Linturi and, Machakos Town MP Dr. Victor Munyaka.

“We don’t want anybody attacking Kalonzo Musyoka. We have only one paramount Kamba leader. The small differences we have within ourselves are only serving to spoil our chances of getting the presidency, “said Nzengu.

He dismissed Makueni governor Kivutha Kibwana over his 2022 bid saying Kibwana was out to divide the Kamba votes. Nzengu reiterated that Kamba community will remain under Kalonzo come 2022.

The leaders praised Kalonzo terming him a great leader who had worked hard to earn a place in the country’s national politics. They said Kalonzo stood a better chance of succeeding Uhuru as compared to Makueni’s Kivutha Kibwana.Image result for Kivutha kibwana attacks Kalonzo

Machakos town MP Dr. Victor Munyaka who was elected on a Jubilee ticked instead supported Kibwana saying nobody was against Kalonzo in Ukambani in the process urging Kalonzo to convene an urgent meeting involving all Kamba leaders in order for the two to iron out their differences ahead of 2022.

“No one is against Kalonzo. I would like him to call all Kamba leaders from different political parties to a meeting to talk with one voice. Let him not try to punish anyone. I have had my own experience with him but I hold no grudge,” said Dr. Munyaka.

Meru Senator Mithika Linthuri on his part urged the Kamba leaders to speak in one voice in order to boost the chances of one of the leaders from the region ascending to Presidency.

Recently, Kalonzo and Kivutha Kibwana have not been seeing each other eye to eye. Their relationship got muddy a week ago after Kibwana announced that he had cut ties with Kalonzo’s Wiper party. Kibwana maintained that he was unshaken by Kalonzo’s threats saying that it was Kalonzo who approached him to join Wiper ahead of 20217 general elections in a move to strengthen Wiper to have more bargaining powers in the NASA coalition.

Kibwana has blamed Kalonzo for rocking the party from within and also failing to adhere to the pact binding the two in Wiper.

“Kalonzo has not done most of the things we had agreed and signed including the nomination formula. We had agreed to have every county have a list of what they wanted to be undertaken and this was not done. Therefore, if Kalonzo wants to call it off, let it be,” he added.

Kibwana has hinted at going for the top seat in 2022 if not forming a coalition with other like-minded parties to clinch the Presidency in the oncoming elections. Kibwana’s county of Makueni has been voted the best county in the country in terms of developments and this has elevated the governor’s scorecard to a higher level.

Kivutha Kibwana, Kitui governor Charity Ngilu and their Machakos counterpart Alfred Mutua seems to be reading from the same script with rumours having it that the three might come together in 2022 to form a formidable team that will see Kalonzo locked out of Ukambani politics.
