Deputy President William Ruto’s recent support he enjoyed from Mt. Kenya region seems to be slowly coming to a crumbling end ahead of 2022 general elections.

William Ruto, who had earlier been considered President Uhuru Kenyatta’s unopposed successor is already finding what was meant to be a smooth transition of power in 2022 very hard each and every day.

In every step the son of the ‘hustler’ nation makes towards his 2022 ambitions, there is always a ‘stumbling’ block being erected by his political enemies, friends turned foes as well as some political moles within his Tanga-tanga team.

And as Ruto works so hard to please his Mt. Kenya friends, a section of elders and leaders are already pouring cold waters into his once “boiling pot” in the region.

On Friday, in what was viewed as an indirect attack on Ruto’s ambitions at a prayer session in Kabiru-ini Grounds in Nyeri County, a section of Kikuyu Elders through their Council Secretary Peter Munga accused Deputy President William Ruto of disrespecting President Uhuru by starting early 2022 campaigns in Mount Kenya region.

In a quick rejoinder after the elders’ announcements that the region owes Ruto no Debt, a section of Tanga-tanga legislatures from the region led by Murang’a Senator Irungu Kangata and Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro softened their stand on President Uhuru Kenyatta.

The two ardent Tanga tanga supporters had been so vocal in the past against President Uhuru Kenyatta accusing him of neglecting the central region in terms of development.

In what was interpreted as a diversionary tactic, the two leaders shifted their blames from Uhuru to  Cabinet secretaries saying they are sleeping on their jobs instead of helping Uhuru deliver on the government’s mandate.

Their sudden change of tune is however attributed to the council of Elders declarations that they won’t tolerate any leaders from the region trying to oppose the president.

The Elders claims that William Ruto was working so hard to divide Mt. Kenya region at the same time becoming a stumbling block in the fight against corruption seems to have touched the two legislatures who despite not announcing their defection from Tanga-tanga vowed to remain loyal and support Uhuru’s big 4 agenda.

Senator Kangata who was speaking at Gathinja Secondary School when he presented Sh2.5 million President Kenyatta had promised the institution last year said the CSs should be on the ground to inspect and commission projects undertaken by the central government.

Kiharu MP, Ndindi Nyoro, on the other hand, hailed the president for giving the region a lot of development projects and tarmacking of a number of major roads in the region.

The elders who are considered the decision makers for the region have already spoken and if their comments are anything to go by, then William Ruto will be in for a rude shock come 2022.

Other region’s leaders who have come out to oppose Ruto’s 2022 ambitions include Ruto’s former ally and confidant Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria who has so far unveiled the region’s ‘party’ which will be used by Mt Kenya region in 2022.

However, some residents from the region maintains that William Ruto is still their preferred candidate and will stand by him come 2022.

Gulf Kavirondo says; “Jaramogi supported Kenyatta. The Kikuyus threw him to the dogs for his efforts. Kijana Wamalwa, George Saitoti and Kalonzo Musyoka and Raila Odinga all supported Mwai Kibaki.

All of them were damped by the Kikuyus soon after. Ruto supported Uhuru. The Kikuyus are now turning their backs on him. Raila will soon meet the same fate. The Kikiyus are masters of betrayal and connivance”

Ndung’u Giathi Samuel; I’m a Kikuyu & I don’t believe we have elders, nobody speaks on my behalf so I’m free to vote for anyone. Kikuyu leadership ended the moment women started stomping on them coz of drunkenness.

John M Kariuki they are not speaking on my behalf….Ruto never indicated he was owed by any tribe…

Anthony Kamau I will vote for Ruto. I have to keep the promise on behalf of Uhuru.
